vinCheck is part of the Awtistik Labs group, a technology company founded in Romania and active on international markets. Transparency is a core principle for us — which is why we aim to provide vehicle information with the highest possible level of accuracy and clarity. We have experience building verification platforms: for example, QINCheck (qincheck.com), our sister platform for Chinese company verification, delivers trusted reports for international buyers and investors. VinCheck’s mission is similar: to bring up-to-date and accessible automotive data to Romania and worldwide, helping prevent unpleasant surprises and fraud in vehicle transactions.

How vinCheck works

With every verification request, our distributed web crawling system collects data *in real time* from up to 15 relevant public sources — ranging from insurance databases and public registries to auction and vehicle listing websites. The result is an instantly generated, non-cached VIN report. This ensures that the information displayed (such as mileage indicators, technical condition, or accident history) is fully up to date and accurate at the moment of the search.

After a live search is performed, the data can also be viewed later on a dedicated historical page for that specific VIN. Unlike platforms that generate fictitious pages, we do *not* perform bulk scraping and we do *not* invent information: every VIN page on the site exists only because a user explicitly requested it. The data shown on that page represents concrete results from previous crawls, collected through real queries. As a result, vinCheck does not display generic or outdated data — each request corresponds to an original report presented in a clear and easy-to-understand format.

Our data and technology

vinCheck’s technology was developed internally at Awtistik Labs. Our system is composed of microservices running crawlers on distributed servers, ensuring fast and resilient data extraction.

Our platform provides full transparency regarding data processing: each source has a dedicated analysis and filtering process, and users are presented only with fact-based conclusions. At every stage, our technical team evaluates data consistency to deliver highly reliable results.

Data accuracy and freshness

vinCheck relies on *real-time* data collected at the moment of the query. Unlike services that display cached results, we do not store verification outcomes for indefinite reuse: each VIN search instantly triggers our system to retrieve fresh information. This approach maximizes accuracy — for example, mileage indicators and technical status reflect the situation at the exact time of the request.

vinCheck applies the same principles, cross-checking data from authorized sources to avoid errors and inconsistencies. Our limitations are clearly communicated so reports can be used with proper understanding.

By combining these data categories, a vinCheck report provides a comprehensive overview of a vehicle’s condition and history, helping you avoid rushed or uninformed decisions.

• VIN details and basic specifications: Each report begins with full VIN decoding (identifying the manufacturer, model, and year of production), along with essential details such as engine displacement, fuel type, color, engine configuration, transmission, and more.
• Risk indicators: We report potential warning signs such as odometer manipulation risk (discrepancies between historical readings).
• Maintenance and ownership history: Where available, we display mandatory maintenance records and official inspections. In particular, we integrate information from RAR: for example, the RAR Auto-Pass certificate contains the "sequence of odometer readings provided by ITP stations or RAR representatives" and details about past technical inspections. This allows you to see whether a vehicle was periodically inspected and whether mileage readings were officially recorded. If recalls were issued or previous ownership records exist (within legal limits), these are also included.
• Market signals: We collect data about the vehicle’s presence on the market, such as active sale listings, auction participation, or import records. A vehicle appearing in multiple listings may indicate its usage level and help assess market value. These secondary signals provide additional context about the car’s commercial history.

RAR and vignette checks

In the specific context of Romania, vinCheck includes two additional reliability checks:

• RAR Auto-Pass verification: We query the Romanian Automotive Registry (RAR) to verify the validity of the digital Auto-Pass certificate associated with a VIN. This certificate is considered "the most transparent form of buyer information" regarding a vehicle’s history. Auto-Pass includes authorized details such as the sequence of odometer readings from ITP stations. A valid RAR certificate confirms that the vehicle has passed the required technical inspections, offering an additional layer of confidence.
• Vignette verification: We check whether a valid vignette (12 months, category A) exists at the time of the query. A vignette paid for an entire year usually suggests that the vehicle was in normal use by a private owner (not just listed in a dealer’s inventory). The absence of a valid vignette does not necessarily indicate a problem — it may simply be expired or unpaid — but it provides the buyer with insight into prior usage patterns. Overall, these additional checks help complete the picture of a vehicle’s history in Romania.

Global expansion and languages

Although vinCheck was launched in Romania, we operate globally. The platform currently provides interface and support for users worldwide, and our team is actively working to expand into new markets. The system is designed to support multiple languages; internal versions already exist (for example, in English), and additional languages (French, German, and others) will be added rapidly. Our approach mirrors that of QINCheck, which built a global verification service for Chinese companies. Our goal is to make vinCheck accessible wherever reliable used-vehicle information is needed, continuously adapting content to each region’s language and specifics.

vinCheck places a strong emphasis on experience and transparency, without making exaggerated claims or unfounded guarantees. We clearly state that we use only public data, never private databases or personal information. We do not display personal data of previous owners and fully comply with applicable regulations (such as GDPR) regarding data protection.
